It’s not the “bring your own” that I remember, but bring your own device.

A few companies are using BYOD to cut the cost of providing devices; others are reluctantly accommodating personal devices; while most see the advantages of more connected employees.

As a result, companies have deployed programs to track usage, power, security, and many other impacts of BYOD. We’ve come a long way since being amazed by network printing.

While BYOD does require more effort from IT, the benefits to the company are numerous: real-time awareness and decision-making, increased productivity, and more engaged employees.
